Irish Player at FIDE Women’s Grand Swiss 2023

The FIDE (Open) Grand Swiss and Women’s Grand Swiss 2023 is the strongest-ever swiss tournament in the world. Both tournaments are filled with the world’s strongest chess players. It is being held at Isle of Man, UK from 23 October – 06 November. Each of them is part of the qualifications for the World Championship cycle.

The FIDE Grand Swiss and Women’s Grand Swiss will be tightly contested with many big names to name a few, recently won US Champion – GM Fabiano Caruana, GM Hikaru Nakamura. In the Women’s, 2023 World Cup winner GM Aleksandra Goryachkina, GM Aleksandra Kosteniuk and many more. Here is an offical teaser video of the tournament:

Ireland’s first WIM Trisha Kanyamarala is set to play in this elite-level event. The Women’s Grand Swiss consists of 16 Grandmaster, 23 International Masters, 4 Women Grandmasters, and 6 Women International Masters. Although this tournament is for Women’s top 50, Wildcards were given to deserving candidates. Trisha received a Wildcard after taking into account of her achievements in chess.
